Competency quiz — process improvement
Five questions, 50 marks, roughly 45 minutes. This is not a memory test — every question asks you to apply process-improvement tools to a real operation and defend a decision. Show your reasoning: a right answer with no reasoning earns half; a well-reasoned answer that reaches a defensible conclusion earns full marks. Your answers stream to the live marking board as you submit.
How your answer is judged — the four criteria
Tool application — correct, purposeful use of the tool the question calls for: process types, the four wastes, re-engineering vs improvement, the levers, value-adding analysis.
Reasoning & problem-solving — the quality of thinking between the facts and the conclusion: diagnosis, trade-offs, cause and effect, not just the final answer.
Evidence & quantification — use the numbers: value-adding %, estimated savings, the arithmetic behind a claim. Rough but shown beats precise but asserted.
Judgement & realism — a defensible decision that would survive a real workplace, including risk, ownership, and the human cost of change.
Bands: Not yet competent (0–40%) · Developing (50%) · Competent (60–70%) · Exemplary (80–100%). An answer that spots its own weakness and adjusts scores above one that is merely confident.
