Background
Dr Allen Mutono leads IALE Institute, a Sandton-based capability enhancement firm with offices in Kimberley and Kuruman. The firm brings research and evaluation, data and AI engineering, and accredited skills development under one roof, so that an organisation can move from insight to a working system to people who can run it.
His working premise is simple: technology is not about tools, it is about the ideas and actions of people when doing work. Done right, and in context, a technology project changes how a whole organisation performs. He argues that AI now sits alongside land, labour and capital as a factor of production, and that Africa should be a creator of AI rather than only a market for it, so that the benefit stays on the continent.
Areas of practice
- Enterprise AI strategy and transformation — readiness assessment, roadmaps and governance using the Assess → Design → Implement → Optimise cycle. AI & Digital Transformation practice.
- Agentic AI and intelligent systems — decision-support agents, document intelligence and on-premise AI for regulated environments.
- Accredited AI skills — QCTO-accredited masterclasses, executive briefings and train-the-trainer academies. AI masterclasses · Skills development.
- Learning design — the ALAI (Action Learning for AI) method, grounded in Revans' action learning and Kolb's experiential cycle within an Ubuntu frame: learners work on their own organisation's problems, not textbook cases.
